Chrisair Aviation was officially founded in 2022 in Las Vegas, Nevada, but its story began more than two decades earlier.

The foundation of Chrisair Aviation was built on a simple belief: quality flight training comes from experienced instructors who genuinely care about each student’s success—not from the size of the school.

Founder Dan “TAZ” Christman began flying at just 11 years old, soloed at 16, and earned his Private Pilot Certificate at 17. His passion for aviation led him through Vincennes University and Purdue University, later earning a master’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

Dan became a flight instructor in 1999, long before Chrisair Aviation existed. Even while serving a 20-year career in the United States Air Force, he continued teaching civilian pilots during evenings and weekends because he believed aviation knowledge should always be passed on.

During his Air Force career, Dan served as a T-38 Instructor Pilot, B-1B Lancer Aircraft Commander, MQ-9 Evaluator Pilot, and finished his military service as an Inspector General at Nellis Air Force Base. Along the way, he accumulated thousands of hours of flight experience while developing a reputation for professionalism, mentorship, and safety.

His love for aerobatics also grew during this time. Beginning in college and expanding throughout his Air Force career, Dan trained extensively in aircraft such as the American Champion Super Decathlon, Extra 300, Yak-52, and North American T-6 Texan, bringing advanced aircraft handling techniques and energy management into every lesson he teaches.

When Chrisair Aviation opened its doors in 2022, the goal wasn’t to become the largest flight school—it was to become the best place to learn. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, emphasizing understanding over memorization and confidence over simply meeting minimum standards.
